Liverpool's Best Real Ale Pubs
The Fly in the Loaf is an Okells pub, so may be seen as a sister pub to Thomas Rigby’s on Dale Street.
It can be busy pre- post- and during sporting events as it is a popular place to watch sport and a handy place to flag down a cab if you’re going to a local home game. Don’t be put off by it being busy at these times though, it isn’t a Blackler’s, it has the best service for a busy pub in the city centre thanks to the landlord – Dominic.
The pub a former bakery (hence the name) was also formerly the former bar Kirklands back in the 1990s (the eponymous bakery).
As well as selling Okell’s beers it does a cracking selection of guest ales, they usually have at least six guests on, the range of which has improved significantly with a change in supplier in the last third of 2013. The same can of course be said for Rigby’s. Recent cask ales have included plentiful cracking brews from Thornbridge and Tiny Rebel.
